Description
A snowplow operator's work is essential for safe travel on winter roads and performing this job requires a high level of skill, competence and expertise. This course provides an extensive introduction to the role and responsibilities of a snowplow operator. The content covers all aspects of this critical work from the safe operation of a snowplow and identifying road hazards to inspecting and maintaining equipment and best practices for sanding and ice control. At the completion of this course, the learner will understand the requirements to be a trained and competent snowplow operator, be familiar with the various types of snowplows and specialized plowing techniques that are commonly used and will be aware of and prepared for any hazards they may encounter on the road.
This e-learning course is intended as an introduction to safe work practices for snowplow operation. It is meant to be used in conjunction with employer led practical training to ensure competency of the snowplow operator. The course content includes real worksite video with key concepts and terms reinforced by text and imagery, interactive graphics and quizzes throughout based on on-the-job scenarios. There is a final exam with an 80% pass rate required to complete the course and obtain the certificate.
